KYLIE Minogue will make a flying visit to Sydney to watch sister Dannii’s onstage comeback at this weekend’s Mardi Gras party.

However don’t expect any Minogue collaboration at the iconic gay and lesbian event.

“I’ll just dash in and out, be part of the cheer squad, I’m not performing,” Kylie said.

“I know Dannii’s equal parts nervous and excited. You want it to be spectacular for Mardi Gras and I have every faith it’s going to be amazing.”

This year’s Mardi Gras will feature another honorary Minogue performing — Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears, also Kylie’s BFF.

“Jake and Dannii are both looking forward to being back on stage,” Kylie says.

“Dannii’s had so much fun doing different things over the last few years, and Jake’s finishing up a musical with Elton John, he’s scored a film, but they’re both pumped to get back on stage.

“If you’re a performer every once in a while you have to let that beast out and get back on stage.”

Kylie will head back to Melbourne to co-host Channel 10’s The Project on Monday night before heading to Perth for the start of the Australian leg of her Kiss Me Once tour.

Iconic disco king Giorgio Moroder, who is opening for Kylie’s tour as DJ, will join Minogue on stage during her set to perform their new collaboration Right Here, Right Now at each Australian show.

“That will be incredible, and it’s a special treat for Australia,” Minogue said.

Mardi Gras will also be the world premiere of Dannii Minogue’s new song Summer of Love. The song will feature amid an epic megamix of Dannii’s hit singles.

The new song was released this week as a celebratory anthem for Mardi Gras, with DJ remixes released on iTunes as a thank you to her patient fans.

It features up and coming British rapper Reece.

Dannii Minogue – Summer of Love

Summer of Love surfacing this month marks exactly 25 years since Dannii’s first single Love and Kisses.

“That figure makes me choke, I’ve been dodging the date,” Dannii says.

“It doesn’t feel that long ago, which is something old people say so I’m technically old. But it feels right for me to something now and for it to be very celebratory

“I’ve been wanting to do music for ages but something was holding me back.

“Now I feel really settled. I feel like I’m in a personal space where I can do it and it’s going to be fun.”

Fans can expect modern dance with the spirit of her biggest album, 2003’s Neon Nights, home to the hits I Begin to Wonder, Put the Needle on It, Who Do You Love Now and Don’t Wanna Lose this Feeling.

”At the moment there’s no record company, maybe there might be, but we’re just making music and vibing off stuff,” Dannii says. “That’s how you end up with great sounds.

“I’d like to have a few releases out this year, but when and how they’ll emerge I don’t know. The people who are interested in it will find it.

“There’s a good energy at the moment where things are flowing so easily. I’ve got other fantastic tracks waiting to be finished and mixed.

“If people do like this track and the direction that is me and the direction I’m heading now then I’ve got other stuff ready to go and I’d love to get it out there. It’s exciting where this could lead to.”

This year’s Mardi Gras also features Nick Jonas, Jessica Mauboy, Courtney Act and Betty Who, who will open for Kylie Minogue’s Australian tour this month.
