NO offence Australia, but with RedFoo’s Let’s Get Ridiculous voluntarily on 140,000 iPods in this country this year maybe it’s time for a bit of a musical education.

Here’s a list of the albums you really should own. You probably already do, unless you’re really into RedFoo. But it’s still not too late.

Christmas is the time for digital music vouchers and cheap CDs. You can pick up some of these classic albums for under $ 10 these days.

Save your angry and/or disappointed tweets, we already know there’s some classic albums, classic artists and classic genres missing from the list.

It’s not designed to be a definitive list of the best albums ever made, just an overview of essential albums that may have escaped your attention.

And note that they’re in alphabetical not awesome order. And we’ve taken the Greatest Hits cop out because who doesn’t love a Greatest Hits?

Especially if they serve as an entrée to discovering someone’s career.

One of the pleasing things about The X Factor this year was the fact that young viewers often bought the original of the songs being covered/massacred on the TV show.
