HE won't be waving his hands in the air like he just don't care but Swedish superstar DJ Avicii is back on the decks.

DJ Avicii, the Future Music Festival headliner, was rushed to hospital after arriving in Australia last weekend with acute pancreatitis.

The producer and model spent six days in a Brisbane hospital and missed the first two Future events there and in Perth.

He convinced doctors to delay a gall bladder operation to treat his condition so he could rejoin the festival tour in Melbourne today.

Avicii may look a little statuesque during his sets – doctors have warned him against jumping, dancing or arm-waving.

"It sucked so much that I had to cancel but it was impossible, it was the most painful thing,” he said today.

"I am lucky that this is an acute case, not chronic and not life-threatening and I think I will do all right with the pain medication.”

Avicii is headlining the organisers’ under 18 offshoot Good Times in Melbourne today before heading to Sydney for Future at Randwick Racecourse tomorrow.

He said he loved playing in Australia because of its electronic music culture and relished the opportunity to play in front of the Good Times teen audience.

"The energy at the under 18s shows is unmatched because they so rarely get to see a DJ perform,” he said.
