KASEY Chambers can’t wait to get to Byron Bay next week to start work on her first solo album of original material in four years.

“I’ve written more songs for an album than I ever have and I don’t know how to part with any of them yet,’’ Chambers said.

Chambers, Nicholson call truce in split

She was in Brisbane yesterday for the launch of the Urban Country music festival, at Caboolture from May 2-4, when she headlines a bill including Beccy Cole, The McClymonts and Busby Marou.

Chambers broke up with husband, country songwriter Shane Nicholson, last year after they had released two albums as a duo.

But she’s back on the road with her Foggy Mountain Jam shows, sharing the stage with Busby Marou, Ashleigh Dallas, Harry Hookey and her father Bill.

“It’s the most fun I’ve ever had on tour, it gets you back to why you do music in the first place,’’ Chambers said.

“And we are all playing at the Urban festival so we will be there all weekend, crashing each other’s shows.’’

She has plans for a Foggy Mountain Jam album to follow her solo release. Urban Country is also set for a big year, with 160 artists playing across 12 stages.
