    Ok, so don’t be jealous or anything, but I’m going to the film
    premiere/launch party for Re:Generation on Wednesday, and Skrillex will be
    there!! (Along with DJ Premier, The Crystal Method and Erykah Badu!) I
    really really really hope he’s spinning and not just hanging out. I’ll take
    some photos and videos and post them on here! Yay for music!!!!

    Well as i’m seeing the updates come in from the grammys it seems that the
    the writing is on the wall for artists in this new world we live in.

    Skrillex has gone from relatively unknown to one of the strongest online
    followings / sold out arena tour, amazing marketing campaign in a short
    amount of time… and without the need of a record label. His last album
    was released under his own label, *he’s 24 year old.*

    *He’s just upped the game* and gave anybody that’s bitching about the new
    online paradigm a seriously slap in the face. The really encouraging thing
    about this whole thing is that, the album he’s winning for was made on a
    laptop with shitty speakers and guess what? *Doesn’t matter. Why?* Cause
    people enjoy the music that much, the enjoy the arrangement, the rhythm,
    the new sounds etc. But they flock to him for the music.

    And if anyone wants a really good example of how to use social media to
    your advantage seriously needs to follow him on twitter and facebook and
    see how it’s done. *Huge congrats to someone giving the industry a serious
    kick in the ass by working his tail off.*

    The Song of the Day: “Rock n Roll (Will Take You to the Mountain” by
    Skrillex, from the 2011 EP Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. Chosen because
    this was a recent CD purchase and because Skrillex got nominated for five
    Grammies. Not used to music I listen to having any sort of Grammy
    association, but it turns out I own three of the five albums nominated in
    the Best Dance/Electronica category this year (Cut/Copy, deadmau5,
    Skrillex).

    The video is compiled concert and tour footage, and in it we learn that 1.)
    Skrillex is tiny, and 2.) he seems to be having a lot of fun. Perhaps I
    missed my calling. Perhaps I should’ve become a famous dubstep DJ instead
    of ending up an office worker in Japan.
