Sia set to top the US album charts
AUSTRALIAN singer-songwriter Sia looks set to top the US album charts come next week with her latest album, 1000 Forms of Fear.
US music industry bible Billboard reports that the album, buoyed by the success of single Chandelier, is on track to sell 50,000 copies in its first week of sale in the US, which should be enough for it to take out the top spot.
It’s a spectacular coup for the Adelaide-born singer, whose last album, 2010’s We Are Born, charted just inside the American top 40, and who now limits her promotional appearances to select, high-profile performances in which she chooses not to show her face.
Next week could prove especially good for homegrown female artists, as fellow Australian success story Iggy Azalea is on track to top the US singles charts for an incredible eighth week with her hit Fancy.
All will be revealed when the Billboard music charts for the week are updated next Wednesday, July 16 — but based on these early figures, it seems it’s a good time to be an Aussie female pop star.
