RICKY Martin is throwing himself into music and his mission to create an Australian global superstar after splitting with his long time partner.

The Voice Australia coach said he and his sons Matteo and Valentino are “very busy” as he juggles his television commitments, recording sessions and world tour plans.

Martin and his longtime partner Carlos Gonzalez Abella broke up earlier this year and the Latin pop superstar will be “sneaking” out of the Voice studios to celebrate Mardi Gras as a single man.

“I feel good about the decisions I have made. My kids are happy and we are taking one day at a time,” Martin said yesterday.

“We are also very busy but that doesn’t mean I am not feeling and I am very aware of my emotions, of feeling uncertainty, sadness and joy.”

The 42-year-old entertainer kicked off a raft of new releases for 2014 this week with Adrenalina, featuring American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez and rapper Wisin.

While the Spanglish single may struggle to find its way on to Australian pop station playlists, the high-energy Brazilian beats will reconnect him with fans who embraced Livin’ La Vida Loca and The Cup Of Life.

“I am not a purist, I am into making a mess out of music, to unite cultures and sounds with this kind of fusion,” he said.

He has also recorded a track, Vida, for the official World Cup album.

And while he continues to work on his solo album for release later this year, Martin reveals he wants to write a duet with Jessica Mauboy, his Team Ricky mentor.

“I want to sit down and write something, do something with Jessica and I would love for her to come to Latin America with me,” he said.

Martin has proven to be a man of his word to his Voice finds, following through on the promise to help some of them with their careers after the show finished.

Before heading back to Australia for the third series of the Voice this week, he took Team Ricky’s Caterina Torres to open for him at concerts in Venezuela and Chile.

“I do believe in her so much and the fact we worked together on The Voice is only the beginning of our relationship,” he said.

The new coaches panel have become fast friends with Kylie Minogue and will.i.am fitting into their roles “effortlessly”.

“Kylie is a goddess, she’s loving, she’s nurturing, she unites us and she’s honest and real,” he said.

“Will is fascinating, I love how his brain works, he’s a genius and I hope all of us are doing this for many years. But just putting it out there that Team Ricky is the best.”

Martin relishes the instant family he has created in Australia with his young sons immersing themselves in their Sydney life.

“My kids love Australia and they are even busier than me. I will call them and they are at the park or the zoo or the aquarium or the beach,” he said.

“Their English is Australian, they have the slang down much better than me.”

Adrenalina is out now. and The Voice is due back on Nine after Easter.
