THE last person acclaimed Australian singer songwriter Mia Dyson expected to walk into a bar to see her play is Pink.

ARIA award-winning blues rocker Dyson was on the second last gig of her American tour last week, playing the Torch Club in Sacramento, when Alecia Moore walked in the door.

The small venue has been hosting blues acts since 1934 and Dyson was promoting her latest record Idyllwild, which has been scoring four star reviews since its release last year.

Moore, who is a passionate fan of Australian artists and discovering new music, was blown away by Dyson’s stunning voice and songs and sought her out at the end of the gig.

She took the Idyllwild CD home with her and then sung Dyson’s praises to her 25 million Twitter followers.

Moore had obviously dug back into Dyson’s catalogue to find more of her music, sampling her 2012 record The Moment.

The pop superstar took her own successful detour into acoustic folk and blues with her You + Me collaboration with Canadian singer songwriter Dallas Green last year.

That album, which showcased her own blues-drenched voice, evolved out of a friendship between the two musicians after Moore discovered his City and Colour albums via a former Australian assistant during one of her epic tours here.

They played just one gig for the album’s release in a tiny club in Santa Monica last October.

Dyson and Moore have struck up a friendship since their accidental meeting so there is potential for a future collaboration.
