LATE last week, Nicki Minaj dropped what might be 2014’s Wrecking Ball moment, debuting the shockingly racy cover to her upcoming single, Anaconda.

The artwork quickly amassed more than a quarter of a million likes on Instagram. Much like Miley’s nude swing on a wrecking ball, soon every internet jokester with a rudimentary knowledge of Photoshop was offering up their own take on the artwork.

First, a refresher. Let’s take a look at the original cover, in all its Kardashian-esque glory:

Now to the parodies — all of which, it should be noted, Minaj has posted on her official Instagram account. Seems she doesn’t mind being the butt of a few jokes (see what we did there).

While these probably can’t be classified as ‘Not Safe For Work’, you may get a few weird looks if any of your workmates catch you looking at SpongeBob SquarePants lustily kissing Nicki Minaj on the bum. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

MY EYES.

Minaj also used her Instagram account to seemingly accuse her critics of racism, posting several pictures of white models in similarly butt-baring attire.

‘Acceptable’, she captioned each of the pics, before reposting her own single cover with the caption ‘UNACCEPTABLE.’

If you’ll allow us to editorialise for a moment: Minaj’s point seems somewhat muddied, given all the ‘acceptable’ examples she offers are of swimsuit models — women hired specifically for the purpose of wearing next to nothing.

Minaj is a multitalented rapper, singer and businesswoman — and judging by the various parodies of her artwork that she herself has been keen to highlight, it seems the general reaction to her new look is less “NICKI, THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE” and more “Nicki love, you look a bit silly. Aren’t you cold?”
