LIONEL Richie is just that good.

The 66-year-old singer got security guards busting moves with a flash mob performance to Dancing on the Ceiling at Glastonbury.

The epic set drew the largest crowd of the festival so far with more than 100,000 fans turning out to see him in the Sunday afternoon ‘legends spot’.

Many were waving flags with Lionel Richie’s face on them while a group of more than 40 people from Liverpool arrived dressed as the Alabama-born singer.

The dance was part of a ‘Do it like Lionel’ routine organised by the festival’s theatre and circus troupe and posted on their website for people to learn beforehand.

“I had a massive attack,” Lionel Richie told the BBC immediately afterwards. “I was hollering for security and security started dancing.

“That was as good as it gets. Even after all the years of me performing, when a crowd takes over like that …. when I saw my face in every imaginable form. It was the perfect show. Even I’m speechless. For me to be speechless, it’s very hard to do.

“I’ve been to a lot of shows. That was organised chaos at its best.”

Richie’s performance followed rocker Patti Smith who bought the Dalai Lama on stage with her where the crowd sung him Happy Birthday.

It came after a controversial headline performance from Kanye West on Saturday night who divided crowds and was interrupted on stage by a comedian.

The Chemical Brothers and The Who closed the festival last night.
