NO F BOMBS, a few love you mates and thank you heaps and a whole lot of pop smarts announced Katy Perry’s arrival in Australia for the biggest pop tour of the year.

One of the biggest grossing productions to hit the world stage in 2014, Perry’s Prismatic show is fluoro colour blocking to a hip pop meets house soundtrack.

It’s total fun overload with staging that is both ambitious and familiar to anyone who has sampled the live wares of get peers in recent years. Or months.

Miley Cyrus introduced us to the butt and breast sumo style suits and vehicular prop only weeks ago.

And Pink, who Perry makes no bones about wanting to match in Australia’s heart, patented the acrobatics on an airborne frame.

Although even Perry’s guitarists got to fly high in this gig. With fireworks from their axes.

But everything else was totally Katy and the opening night capacity crowd at the Perth Arena scored one of the most kaleidoscopic, lavish and just plain fun shows doing the global rounds.

The Prismatic show is slickly choreographed, cleverly costumed and fast paced with an enviable setlist of hits from the still irresistible “I Kissed A Girl” to the electro urban pop of “Dark Horse”.

It really is a greatest hits show when you consider she has released 10 singles from her last two records alone.

“Hot and Cold” gets the most dramatic reinvention as a sassy jazz cut while the firework finale is a 3D extravaganza with glasses supplied.

Perry is the big sister everyone in the audience from four to 40 not only looks up to but wants to hang with.

Whether she is getting down with the vernacular or waxing philosophical, she manages to make it sound relaxed rather than scripted. And not a naughty word escapes that shouty pout.

No parental advisory required for the Prismatic show and those plucked from the audience are treated like part of the tour family.

Perry has that voice in the key of everyone and while she may not be smashing out the vocal gymnastics, she isn’t shirking a note and hits most of them.

She will perform 23 concerts to more than 300,000 Australians in the next six weeks and if the opening night is any gauge, it is going to be heaps of fun, as she would say.

Oh and apparently socks are the thing to throw on stage.
