It’s Raining Men could storm up chart
IT’S Raining Men could hit #1 in the UK in response to a politician’s comments that the UK floods were caused by the legalisation of gay marriage.
The Facebook campaign is asking people to download the hit by The Weather Girls from January 27 after Councillor David Silvester of the UK Independence Party said the country had been "beset by storms" since the passing of the gay marriage law because Prime Minister David Cameron had acted "arrogantly against the Gospel."
The campaigners behind the chart crusade said: “For decades now, this song has been used as a gay anthem.
"We thought it fitted all the better based on UKIP’s comments regarding storms and floods being caused by LGBT people and gay marriage.
"We believe that the show of strength to get a song to Number 1 will create a huge spotlight on our campaign for equality as a whole.
"The song, if you like, is our catalyst and part of the bigger message.”
It’s Raining Men was written in 1979 and recorded by The Weather Girls in 1982 after Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Cher, and Barbra Streisand all passed on it. However, it only reached Number 2 in the UK.
