CHET Faker will play his largest Australian shows when he embarks on his ‘bucket list’ tour later this year.

Melbourne musician Faker will play three outdoor shows, Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on October 30, Brisbane’s Riverstage on October 31 and the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on November 6.

All shows will be all ages, with tickets priced at $ 79.90 for Melbourne and Brisbane and $ 99.90 for Sydney.

Faker said this will be the final tour for his No. 1 album Built on Glass.

The double platinum album was a multiple ARIA winner last year, has seen him play festivals around the world including Coachella and Glastonbury, appear on Ellen and win Triple J’s Hottest 100 with the single Talk is Cheap.

“This is the bucket list tour for the album,” Faker said. “I’m doing everything I ever thought I might do for this album. I’m playing all these songs I haven’t played before, putting some songs to rest, getting a bigger band, some surprise guests. It’s like the director’s cut of the album. I realised this album is about to be put to rest. You can’t go back and tour an album. Well you can, but I wouldn’t do that until I’m old. So I figured I better get it out of my system.”

Faker has released a song called Bend for the tour, which was on Built on Glass until the last moment, eventually replaced by To Me.

“It’s been sitting in my iTunes annoying me that it didn’t come out because it’s so a part of that album,” Faker said.

“I felt like it’d die in the archives, this is the perfect reason to put it out, it contextualises it. I haven’t put anything out and I’m about to be putting out a bunch of new stuff so this is a good bridge to the newer stuff that’s on the way.”

Faker, who now lives in Brooklyn, has revealed he’s been working with super producer Rick Rubin on a track that may make his next album.

“He’s not producing the whole album, it was just a song I was trying to finish he helped out on. Rick’s a legend, he’s so chilled.”

Faker recorded the song at Rubin’s infamous Shangri La studios in Malibu, where everyone from Adele to Ed Sheeran, Kanye West to Eminem have recorded.

“It felt like a cult at first because everyone was so happy and relaxed and half an hour later I was just as happy and relaxed. It’s a great space. I can see why people love it. It’s like a family. I walk in, James Blake is just hanging out in the kitchen, it felt like a safe place for artists to let their hair down.”

Faker has revealed some of his new material that will emerge before a new album he’s half finished and wants out early next year.

“I did a session with Unknown Mortal Orchestra, who is not working on my album, that is hearsay. It was just working on a track. I did a two track EP with a Melbourne group The Cactus Channel, that’s coming out. I’m working on a collaborative EP with a UK artist called Marcus Marr. I’ve been doing heaps of collabs. I thought I’d be working with a heap of artists for my next album but so far everything I’ve done has just come from me. It’s a step forward too, it’s different. I really like it.”

The tour will go on sale at midday on June 25 from Ticketmaster (Melbourne, Sydney) and the Opera House for Sydney.
