ADELE SCORES ANOTHER BIG ALBUM SALES WEEK

Adele’s “25” (XL/Beggars Group) remains at number one on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart while “Hello” spends a sixth straight week on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100. “25” sells 145,000 units for the week, raising the two week total to 451,000. It is the eighth biggest one week sales total in the Canada SoundScan era and it is the second biggest second week sales total, just shy of the 146,000 copies sold for the compilation album “Big Shiny Tunes 2” in its second week of release in 1997. “Hello” returns to the top spot on the Digital Songs chart with an 86% download increase over last week.

Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” (Universal) holds at No. 2 on the Canadian Albums chart, with another
24,500 units sold. His current single, “Sorry,” remains at No. 2 on the Canadian Hot 100, scoring Greatest Gainer/Airplay honours for the second straight week, with a 20% airplay increase. “Sorry” also jumps 2-1 on the Streaming Songs chart, his second straight chart-topping streaming hit.

Francois Perusse’s “L’album Du Peuple Tome 10” (Zero) is the lone new debut in the top 30, entering
at No. 3 with close to 16,000 units sold. It matches the chart peak of his last album, which sold 12,000 units in its first week of release in November 2013.
