US album sales are up 0.2% this year so far, with 33 million albums sold versus 32.9 million albums sold thanks to Drake’s surprise release + 50 Shades Soundtrack. The small increase makes it look non-serious, but at this point in 2014 album sales were already down nearly 15%, and the same applies with 2013 — album sales have yet to fall below 3% compared to last year in any of the weeks thus far.
+ 2004 & 2011 are the only years since 2000 to have album sales be up. Will this year join? Adele her power again?
