The Official Top 40 Biggest Selling Singles Of 2013 So Far

With less than a month to go before the Official Charts Company compile the end of year charts, and the biggest shopping period of 2013 already underway, we reveal the Official Top 40 Biggest Selling Singles of 2013 as they stand right now!

Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines remains the biggest selling single of 2013 to date, with sales of over 1.44 million copies. The track, which also features US rapper TI and producer Pharrell Williams, spent five non-consecutive weeks at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart following its release in May.

Pharrell, who co-wrote and produced the track, also collaborated with Daft Punk on Get Lucky (alongside Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers) which is Number 2 with sales of 1.28 million copies in the UK. Avicii’s Wake Me Up, which is currently the fastest selling single of 2013, holds firm at Number 3 with sales of over 1.12 million copies, while Passenger, AKA Mike Rosenberg, is at Number 4 with Let Her Go. The track, which is the only single in the Top 5 not to have reached Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, became the fourth million-seller of2013 earlier this week. The Top 5 is completed by Naughty Boy’s La La La featuring the 2014 BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice nominee Sam Smith. To date, it has sold over 926,000 copies.

The Top 10 remains largely unchained since Quarter 3’s chart was published at the start of October, however Katy Perry’s Number 1 hit Roar is a new entry at Number 8 (with 719,000 sales to date). Roar pushes Justin Timberlake’s Mirrors (705,000 sales) down one place to Number 9 and Rudimental’s Waiting All Night, which features another of the BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice nominees, Ella Eyre, is subsequently down two places to 11 (654,000 sales).

The Official Top 40 Biggest Selling Singles Of 2013 So Far are listed below. However, with the busiest sales period for music already underway – which includes the Official Christmas Number 1 race – this Top 40 could change significantly before we ring in 2013.
