Bloc Party to headline Falls Festival

DISCLOSURE, Bloc Party, Foals and Courtney Barnett are among the headline acts for the Falls Festival circuit during the New Year period.
Also performing across the country will be Hilltop Hoods, Django Django, Gary Clark Jr, Birds of Tokyo, Rufus, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Paul Kelly and the Merrisoul Sessions, Toro Y Moi, Mac Demarco, Borns, Gang of Youths, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Seth Sentry, The Maccabees, Alpine, Hiatus Kaiyote, Meg Mac, Halsey, Art vs. Science and musical comedy legend Weird Al Yankovic.

The Falls Festivals run December 28 until January 1 in Lorne Victoria, December 29 until January 1 in Marion Bay Tasmania and December 31 until January 3 in Byron Bay.
The line-up is also replicated for the Southbound Festival in Western Australia which runs from January 8 to January 10.
As usual tickets for The Falls will be assigned via a ballot system through the festival’s website.
Registrations close on August 14, with general sales starting August 26.
Southbound ticket pre-sales start this Wednesday with general on sale next Monday.
It will be the first time Bloc Party have played the Falls Festival.
The British band went on hiatus after touring 2012’s album Four, with singer Kele Okereke releasing a second solo album.
During the break two original members left the band — drummer Matt Tong and bassist Gordon Moakes, leaving Okereke and guitarist Russell Lissack as the last men standing.
Okereke says Bloc Party will shortly announce two replacement members who have worked on what will be their fifth album, although the singer is not sure if the album will be released this year.
“It’s exciting,” Okereke said. “The Bloc Party reboot.”
The frontman was tight-lipped about what prompted the line-up changes.
“We’re not really talking about that right now, I’m sure at some point we will be spilling the beans. Right now we want to focus on doing the shows and putting on the best performances we can.”

Several festivals were in the race to secure UK dance duo Disclosure, with the Falls winning out.
The brothers will release their second album, Caracal, in September. The single Omen, where they again team with Sam Smith, has become an instant radio hit. Caracal will feature guest vocalists including Lorde, Miguel, the Weeknd and Gregory Porter.
Their Falls performances will be live shows, not a DJ set.
Disclosure’s debut album Settle featured the hits Latch (with Sam Smith), F For You, White Noise and When a Fire Starts to Burn.
The Falls will also feature Fleetwood Mac tribute act Fleetmac Wood who rework hits like Dreams and Go Your Own Way for the dancefloor.
A second round of bands playing the festival will be announced over the coming months.
