AMERICAN rockers The Black Keys will headline the annual Bluesfest in Byron Bay before kicking off a national tour in April.

Thrilling blues rockers Alabama Shakes, country folkers Zac Brown Band and pop chart-toppers Train have also been booked for the 2015 festival.

The Black Keys debuted at No. 1 on the Australian charts with their eighth record when it was released in May.

The rock duo broke worldwide via their previous album El Camino, thanks to the quirky video for the hit Lonely Boy.

Frontman Dan Auerbach also produced Lana Del Rey’s Ultraviolence record.

After they headline Bluesfest’s Friday program, the Black Keys will play a series of Rolling Green shows — the new hipster winery circuit — and arena concerts.

Bluesfest promoter Peter Noble received a collective thumbs up for his enduring event’s first announce which features a mix of conventional blues artists and popular marquee acts.

Zac Brown Band, whose latest record was produced by Dave Grohl, are the fifth highest grossing act on the American concert circuit while Alabama Shakes were a big drawcard for the Big Day Out last year.

The legendary George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic will compete for the biggest band title alongside Paul Kelly whose Merri Soul Sessions guests include Dan Sultan, Kira Puru and Vika and Linda Bull.

Festival faves Michael Franti and Spearhead, Tombone Shorty, Xavier Rudd and Rockwiz Live all return for next year’s five-day music celebration in Byron Bay.

Other alternative acts to make the 2015 bill include The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Frank Turner, Mariachi El Bronx, G. Love & Special sauce, Pokey LaFarge and Band Of Skulls.

The Black Keys tour includes Rochford Wines, Yarra Valley on April 5, Margaret Courtt Arena, Melbourne on April 7, Qantas Credit Union Arena on April 10, Bimbadgen Winery, Hunter Valley on April 11, Red Hill Auditorium, Perth on April 14 and the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on April 16, with tickets on sale from September 11.
