AUSTRALIAN YouTube personality Troye Sivan can now add ‘imminent pop star’ to his resume with his debut single Happy Little Pill scoring tens of thousands of listens within hours of being revealed online today.

The teen sensation — who has two million subscribers to his YouTube channel — was signed to an international recording deal with EMI a year ago.

He was barely a teenager when he set up his channel in 2007 to expose his singing talent but it became popular because of his video blogs.

Sivan’s profile was further boosted with his role in X Men Origins: Wolverine and the Spud series of films opposite John Cleese.

But the 19-year-old pop-star-potentate was confirmed when he uploaded his song, A Fault In Our Stars, inspired by the book of the same name.

The song has had more than 3.5 million views since he put it up in May last year.

Since then, the young entertainer has been secretly working on songwriting with sessions in Los Angeles and London.

He revealed his big recording deal news to his fans three weeks ago, taking them on a video tour of the famed Capitol Building in Los Angeles.

“As you can see my hands are shaking; I am freaking the flip out,” he told fans.

“I wrote over 40 songs and it has been the most intense, insane journey and I had to keep it a secret from you guys the entire time.”

Sivan’s posted a stream of the track Happy Little Pill to Tumblr overnight — and within hours fans had produced their own lyric videos and cover versions.

“I wrote this song during a bit of a rough time for someone super close to me, and for myself, and it still means as much to me as the day I wrote it, and iIm still as in love with it as the day I wrote it,” he posted.

Sivan was overwhelmed by the reaction to the song.

The track is reminiscent of the early solo sound of Darren Hayes and is the first taste of TRXYE — which is set to released on August 15.
