X FACTOR star Reigan Derry has spoken out about her so-called “silent treatment” policy and defended embattled rapper Redfoo.

Derry was shocked by fellow contestant Jason Heerah’s claims she gave her reality singing show peers “the silent treatment” behind the scenes.

“I was very supportive of people on the show. But word leaked out that I do silent days, which someone interpreted as the silent treatment,” Derry said.

On silent days, Derry doesn’t speak until midday to save her voice. “I use charades … or write words on paper,” she said. “Once my voice warms up, I talk. But I wasn’t ignoring people, I was just not responding with sound.”

Derry is also vocal in supporting her X Factor coach, Redfoo, who is copping flak for his collaboration track, Literally I Can’t, which critics have slammed as sexist.

“I believe in Redfoo as a person and I think art is art,” Derry said.

“I know the person he is deep down, so I don’t believe the accusations.”

She said Foo’s next single, due next month, will “redeem him.”

Meanwhile, Derry will release an EP, with lead track All Of The Pieces, on December 12.

All Of The Pieces is “about working to make something beautiful blossom.

“It’s about opening up and exploring a world where you put things out here and try to find the answers.”
