It just keeps growing on you…,
Ever since Born this Way, whenever I encounter a Lady Gaga song for the first time, it always takes more than one listen to find myself really getting into it. This wasn’t any exception.
The verses are a little lackluster, but it’s the dual chorus that makes this worth five stars, easily. It’s the epitome of “hook, line, and sinker”. And considering this is the same artist that gave us Born This Way, Judas, and Marry the Night, that shouldn’t really be a surprise to anyone. It seems to be a part of Lady Gaga coming into her own sound as she matures: delivering such a catchy chorus (and not in an annoying way!) that you have to immediately play it again four or five times.
As usual, she’s got a Synth-SF background colorful enough to make your average synesthete go nuts, a melody that wanders effortlessly through her extreme vocal ranges, and lyrics that make you scratch your head on occasion… all wrapped up into a deceptively feel-good song! It’s easy to get lost in, and all the more so the more you listen to it. Definitely worth the buy.

Put your hands up, make them touch.,
APPLAUSE released an entire week ahead of schedule in an effort to thwart a potential leak. Fans were abuzz in the early hours of the morning listening to a low quality leak being played over popular website tinychat, while several high quality snippets had been floating around. When Gaga awoke this morning, she declared a POP EMERGENCY and kicked things into overdrive. In a spectacle of tweets and fan anticipation, we were given the Applause, broadcast simultaneously across US radio. While we got the first single off of ARTPOP seven days in advance, I think it’s safe to say it would have been well worth the wait. With Applause, Gaga proves once again why she’s the reigning Queen of Pop and leaves us wanting even more from ARTPOP, due to release 11/11/13.
