Australia’s Got Talent’s Brady bunch has split up.

Trevelyn Brady has pulled out of Australia’s Got Talent so that she doesn’t have to sing off against her son Dean.

Instead, the Cairns mum will provide backing vocals as her 10-year-old sings off in the finals round of the Channel 9 talent show tonight.

Trevelyn was roped into competing on Australia’s Got Talent by accident when Dean took part in auditions.

Dean – looking like a young Michael Jackson – wowed judges Dawn French, Geri Halliwell, Timomatic and Kyle Sandilands with his rendition of Temptations hit My Girl.

He was accompanied by father Troy on guitar.

Trevelyn was forced on stage when the judges asked Dean whether anyone else in his family could sing.

Trevelyn floored everyone with her soulful vocals when she performed Alicia Keys’ If I Ain’t Got You – and was asked to be a contestant.

The family was quickly labelled The New Brady Bunch.

Now that the excitement has worn off, Trevelyn knows it wouldn’t be right to compete against her beloved son.

“This decision is about allowing Dean to have his moment and to be one hundred per cent supportive,” Trevelyn says.

“It would be really hard to do that if I was part of the competition. It didn’t feel right to be competing with him. There is no way I could do that.”

Trevelyn is convinced that Dean can make it through to the Grand Final. The winner of this year’s show collects $ 250,000.

“As a mother I am obviously biased, but I definitely think he has the ability (to go far on the show),” Trevelyn says. “He really is quite incredible.

“We don’t know what Dean will want in the future so we’re very careful. He’s only a little boy.

“It is hard to imagine what it (music) will be for him. We just know that we will be here supporting him.”

Trevelyn’s singing prowess is obvious and thankfully she hasn’t ruled out competing in a future series of Australia’s Got Talent.

“We’re a very musical family,” she says. “Troy sings and plays guitar and Troy’s brother sings as well.

“It was a huge shock to be called on stage. I was taken by surprise. I was still getting over Dean’s amazing performance. It caught me off guard.

“If the opportunity arose (to compete in the future) and the timing was right then yes, sure, (I would consider it).”

Dean will be seen on this Sunday’s edition of Australia’s Got Talent on Channel 9 at 6.30pm.
