THE video for AC/DC’s latest single is missing drummer Phil Rudd but destined to become the go-to clip for every sports broadcast for the next 12 months.

Play Ball does that by featuring dozens of scenes of ball-playing moments from black and white footage of nuns kicking around a soccer ball to bikini-clad female “players” sliding in mud.

It is old school rock’n’roll and AC/DC make no apologies for the old school sexist images of a model draped on a pool table having snooker trick shots played around her or balls ricocheting off women’s bodies in matches.

There are also plenty of vintage black and white montages of balls being bounced, kicked and dunked.

What is missing is drummer Phil Rudd, who couldn’t make the shoot in October due to a “family emergency”.

He is replaced in the band scenes of the video by Shogun drummer Bob Richards.

The video also introduces Stevie Young, the replacement for band founder Malcolm Young who left the band this year due to the crippling effects of dementia.

“Stevie Young is just doing a brilliant job to stand in Malcolm’s place,” frontman Brian Johnson said.

“And he’s just gone on and do it, fulfil Mal’s wishes of making music.”

The band stated last week that Rudd’s recent arrest would not impact the release plans for new record Rock or Bust.

CHARGE WITHDRAWN: AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd in murder plot drama

“Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album Rock or Bust and upcoming tour next year,” the band posted on their official website.

Rudd faces charges of threatening to kill and drug possession in New Zealand.

But the show will go on for AC/DC, with Johnson revelling in their reunion in a behind-the-scenes video shot during the making of the Play Ball clip.

“I never thought we’d do this again, but here we are with a new album, getting all the boys together again,” he said.

Rock or Bust is released on November 28 and AC/DC are expected to announce their world tour dates in December.
