  • Under Pressure…what happened to the song?

  • Forefinger? The Break Up Song? Hello……what impact did these have in
    198!? Weird…

  • Justin MacKinnon

Wow! Maybe the weirdest year ever! 70s arena bands, Lennon and Jager,
disco, new wave..wow..and a truly awful and forgettable #1. That is so
    AWESOME!!!

  • Bill Brumbaugh

    I agree with #1…Love Kim’s raspy voice!

  • rrrproductionsrd

Excuse me! Flock of seagulls “I ran”

  • I hate #23

  • daniel guerrero

god bless 80′s, the best decade ever

  • suzycreamcheesez

    I before e

  • Luiz Defleppard

Thats what I call real music (8-)—{<>

  • Not sure where you got this list, but it’s flawed. “Endless Love” held the
Number 1 spot for nine straight weeks and was listed as the Number Two song
of 1981 and yet it’s not even on your compilation. Neither is “Arthur’s
Theme” by Christopher Cross, “Physical” by Olivia Newton John, “Morning
Train” by Sheena Easton, or “9 To 5″ by Dolly Parton, all listed by
Billboard as the Top Songs of 1981. Do your research. However, I
    appreciate your effort.

  • Every Woman in the World might be the worst song ever made.

  • GhaV jGRite (jeaHAvee)

So… atleast Kool and the gang was number 2… 2 cents given… keep the
    change.

  • You’re little off. Some of this stuff was from 1980 and some from 1982. I
know because I grew up with this music in my HS and College years.

  • Journey was crap then!. AND IT’S STILL CRAP NOW! …More Depeche Mode
    Please….

  • John lennens songs didn’t release till after he died

  • lol this greatest hit really suck

  • This video has Stars on 45, Depeche Mode, Barbara Streisand, Air supply,
Kim Wilde, Abba, etc, etc, but not Billy Squire, Sammy Hagar, Blue Oyster
Cult, April Wine, Styx, Phil Collins, Rush, The Who, The Tubes, and on…
all of whom had huge album releases that year? “Best” is subjective, but I
think you are way off base.

  • Alberto Aguilar

How come two John Lennon songs appear on this list if he died a year
    before?

  • Hum, a very American “best of” I guess, because I hardly know 50-60% of the
songs. Oh BTW that Air Supply you put in many of your best ofs, sorry but
they suck ass. Just my opinion.;)

  • Fun fact : Rick James and Neil Young were in a band together in 1966 called
    the Mynah Birds.

  • KIM CARNES has 25 hits on Billboard charts.

  • I remember 98% of these. So many great sons. DAMN I MISS THOSE YEARS.
Growing up during that time is something younger peeps wont get to ever
know. Shame. We ruled and so did the music…now get off my lawn. And I was
    12 then. haha.

  • bah, mick jagger looked like well…idiot even as he was youger, still
    great singer.

  • Oooh, Journey Don’t Stop Believin is #8 and Kenny Rogers is #7…Everyone
is entitled to their opinions, so I won’t say anything but, from my point
of view, that is not the right order :-)

  • Mr. Furley at #21. Just messing wit you Mick.
