JANET Jackson has given fans the news they have long waited for — she has promised a new album and world tour for later this year.
The Rhythm Nation singer has dropped off the radar since her last album Discipline was released in 2008.
It even prompted some fans to issue a missing person’s report to try and locate the singer.

But the 49-year-old has come out of hiding to reveal plans to release a new album this year.
“I promised you’d hear it from my lips and now you will. This year, new music, new world tour, a new movement. I’ve been listening. Let’s keep the conversation going,” she said in a new video.

Rumours had been growing that Jackson may be planning a comeback.
An uncredited photo suggested that Atlantic Records was set to release a new album from the singer in July, while online music app Spotify leaked details of a July 28 tour date.

Last month the singer made a rare public appearance this week, stepping out at Giorgio Armani’s 40th anniversary dinner in Milan, Italy.
The six-time Grammy winner attended the exclusive event with her husband, business magnate Wissam Al Mana.

The Nasty performer and Al Mana, a Qatari billionaire, reportedly wed in a secret 2012 ceremony.
She was previously wed to James DeBarge from 1984-1985 and Rene Elizondo from 1991-2000.

As well as her many hit singles, Jackson is also an actress of some note, having started out in the TV series Different Strokes and in films such as Poetic Justice, The Nutty Professor II.
