BOB Dylan has celebrated his 73rd birthday by announcing another tour of Australia.

The master songwriter will return here in August for a month-long run of theatre shows.

Dylan’s concerts can test the loyalty of fans with many walking out of shows here three years ago because of his unrecognisable reboots of old favourites and lack of interaction with the audience.

But with Dylan heading to theatres on what could be his last tour of Australia, tickets are expected to sell quickly when they go on sale on June 3.

He heads out for shows throughout Europe in June before kicking off here at Perth’s Riverside Theatre on August 13 and 14, then heading to Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on August 18 and 19, the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on August 25, Canberra’s Royal Theatre on August 29, Adelaide Entertainment Centre on August 31 and the State Theatre in Sydney on September 3 and 4.

The master songwriter’s birthday yesterday is being celebrated with parties and concerts throughout the world.

He recently revealed the first taste of his 36th studio record on his website, a cover of a 1945 Frank Sinatra song called Full Moon and Empty Arms.

The follow-up to his acclaimed 2012 record tempest is due out later this year.
