KATY Perry is locked in a property battle over a former convent she wants to turn into her Los Angeles base.

Perry has reportedly put in an offer for the former home of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Los Feliz. But the nuns claim the person brokering the deal with the pop star doesn’t have the right to sell.

Sources tell the Los Angeles Times that Archbishop Jose Gomez wants to sell the estate to THE “Roar” singer. But the nuns who once lived there insist only they have the legal right to sell the property — and they’re interested in handing over the keys to restaurateur Dana Hollister.

The Times reports Perry, who grew up in a strict religious family, is so keen to add the former convent to her property portfolio, she recently toured the estate with an architect and even sang religious tune Oh Happy Day for the nuns.

But one of the religious ladies, Sister Rita, was clearly not a fan of Perry’s. She told the Times, “I found her videos (online) and … if it’s all right to say, I wasn’t happy with any of it.”

“We have given many years to this archdiocese and we have served them well. For the archdiocese to … put us under a bus and run over us, I’m sorry, it was just too much for me.” The villa-style mansion, which offers breathtaking views of Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Mountains, is expected to sell for close to $ US15 million ($ A19.53 million).
