AUSTRALIAN chart-toppers Justice Crew say they asked a popular member to leave the group amid claims he acted like a greedy rugby player who always hogged the ball.

Emmanuel Rodriguez, also known as E-Man, was asked to quit as Justice Crew celebrated their history-making hit Que Sera.

“People wanna know the truth …” Rodriguez tweeted. “I didn’t leave. I got told to leave.”

Crew member John Pearce told Confidential: “It’s a long story, but in a nutshell, in a group not everyone gets along. He wanted to do his own thing and he had a different mindset for the group.

“We had to come to come to a conclusion, move forward as a group, and let him go and do his own thing,” Pearce said.

Asked to explain the dynamics of Justice Crew, Pearce said: “You’ve got to be a team player because we’re a team.

“It’s like any team, a football team or an AFL team, you have one star player hogging the ball or wanting the spotlight, it doesn’t make the team better.”

Pearce said Que Sera, which is the longest running No. 1 ARIA single by a homegrown act, reflects the band’s ethos of sticking together through good and bad times.

“We kept at it and we never stopped dreaming. We kept supporting each other,” Pearce said. “The message is to never give up and to keep around positive people.”

Justice Crew is set to release their debut album in November.
