A BOUQUET of flowers or even a romantic dinner would keep most wives happy on their wedding anniversary.
But for Aussie actress Nicole Kidman, husband Keith Urban took it to a whole other level, delivering a passionate rendition of Once In A Lifetime at the first of two sell-out shows in Melbourne as part of his Light the Fuse Tour.
Celebrating their eighth year wedding anniversary he told the audience of how he wrote the song a day after talking with his then fiance about their upcoming nuptials.
“A couple of months before the wedding we were in our hotel and we were talking about the future and Nic was getting very nervous about marrying me,” he said.
“She was saying things like ‘it’s a long shot’. I knew she loved me and was just nervous. I did everything I could to remind her that I was going to be her man forever.”
And if that wasn’t enough to make hearts melt, he later also belted out Making Memories of Us, recalling how he sang it to his “baby girl” at their wedding.

“This is a song a lot of people have at their wedding. We had it ours. I sung it. I was too cheap to get anybody else, ” he joked.
“Eight years baby girl. This song is for you. I love you so much.” His confessions of love for his wife left the fans asking one question: where is she? To which he replied “she is here”.
Kidman, who tied the knot with the country superstar at Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel in the grounds of St Patrick’s Estate in Sydney on June 25 in 2006, did not show her face, much to the disappointment of fans. She is understood to have been sitting out of sight in a VIP viewing box.
That aside, Urban quickly reminded people why they were at Rod Laver Arena, showing off his vocal and instrumental prowess, proving he has come a long way since his vocals were made public as a contestant on New Faces in 1983.
The two-hour show featured old-time favourites as well as new music from his gold-selling album Fuse, including hits Little Bit of Everything, We Were Us and the new single Shame.

Adoring fans who admire his good looks screamed like schoolgirls as the country heart-throb thumped around the stage like he owned it. But others were more there to admire his electrifying guitar skills — something he most definitely did not disappoint with.
One fan couldn’t stop shaking after she was called on to the stage to meet her idol after he noticed a sign she was waving saying “I’d look good in your shirt, Keith”.
“Let’s see about that,” Urban teased.
Another little fan could only say “oh my God” when Urban entered the audience and handed his signed guitar to her.
While Urban was the star of the night, it is worth noting support act Sheppard warmed the crowd up superbly, particularly with their chart-topping hit Geronimo.
