According to Nielsen SoundScan report for the week of Nov 3rd, Beyoncé has sold 17.7 million albums in the US (pure sales). Once stream & track equivalent album are factored in, this brings her US album sales to 26.1 million albums. Here is a breakdown of each album:

Beyonce has sold over 26.1 million albums in the US and approximately 60 million albums worldwide. This total does not include Destiny’s Child album sales (18.6 million albums in the US & 40 million albums worldwide). RIAA hasn’t updated the certifications for Beyonce and other artist. In order for a record to be certified, it has to be requested by the artist, someone on the artist team, or the record label. Nielsen Soundscan is the only source that counts record sales in the US. Japanese Megastar Utada Hikaru Returns to the Charts as ‘Fantome’ Tops World Albums

Despite a shortened time period to rack up chart points with the atypical release date (most albums are released on Fridays to coincide with the new global release date and the Billboard charts are tracked from Fridays to Thursday), Fantome debuted at No. 2 on World Albums on the chart dated Oct. 15 after moving more than 1,500 copies. The LP jumps to No. 1 on World Albums this week, moving 2,000 additional copies for more than 3,500 in total to date.

Fantome marks Utada’s most stripped-down and personal work yet with the events during the star’s professional hiatus undoubtedly influencing the stunning, 10-track album. Many songs touch on elements of grief and death (the singer’s mother, fellow singer Keiko Fuji, passed away due to an apparent suicide in 2013), but also includes notes of inspiration and love (Utada married her second husband Francesco Calianno in May 2014 and gave birth to a son in July 2015).

To mark the Official Albums Chart’s milestone, we looked back through the archives to celebrate the most prolific albums’ acts both who’s had the most Number 1s and, as an added bonus, who’s notched up the most weeks at the top too!

Madonna
The female solo star with the most albums to hit the top, and in joint second place overall, is Madonna, of course. She first hit the top in 1985, when her sophomore album Like A Virgin finally reached Number 1 in its 44th week on the Official Albums Chart, and most recently found herself top of the pile in 2012, with MDNA, her 12th chart-topper (if you include the Evita soundtrack, which we do). When it comes to weeks at number 1, Madonna’s scored 30, and was recently overtaken by Adele as female artist with most weeks at the top.

Robbie Williams
The charismatic breakout star has 11 chart-topping albums all of his own, an impressive enough record, but if you want to play devil’s advocate and include his Number 1s while part of Take That, he’d have another four to add to his tally. That would put him as third most successful UK albums act after Paul McCartney (22) and John Lennon (18).
As a solo artist, Robbie has spent 34 weeks at the top yep, more than Madonna and his very first Number 1 was his debut Life Thru A Lens, which took 19 weeks to climb to the summit.
